Teeth Grinding / Occlusion Splint

Most people grind and clench their teeth without realising, usually during sleep but can also be during the day too.

The medical term for this condition is known as Bruxism. Teeth grinding is often caused by stress and other forms of tension. If this occurs on a regular basis, it can often lead to damaged worn down teeth and other oral complications.

Signs that you may be suffering from Bruxism include:
  • Fractures in your teeth or jaw
  • Making grinding sounds during the night
  • Loose and weakened teeth
  • Gum and surrounding bone damage
  • Sensitivity to hot and cold
  • Facial pain and Earache
  • Migraine
  • Sore gums

Occulsal SplintAt Care4Teeth we can help protect your teeth and reduce the damage caused by grinding by custom making an Occlusal Splint/Night guard. An Occlusal splint is a slim acrylic night guard fitted to the upper jaw which covers the biting surface of the teeth (the occlusion) It is worn during sleep. Please note, wearing an occlusal splint will not stop you from grinding.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, there are several treatments that Care4Teeth can assist you with.
